Project Introduction

This project presented by <2025 Korea·A·Round Culture> is a Korea-Germany Sound Art Festival Collaboration. Korea’s WeSA, which has been cultivating an innovative arts ecosystem since 2014 through audiovisual and experimental music festivals, joins forces with Germany’s CTM Festival, an institution that has led Europe’s experimental music scene for over 25 years under the motto “a festival for adventurous music and art.” Under the theme "Urban Moments of Seoul–Berlin", artists from both countries presented a diverse range of performances exploring moments of the city. 

This project brought together four Korean artists and four German artists, structured around workshops during the day and performances at night. In particular, Korea’s Tohal Kyna and Germany’s Sara Persico collaborated on a live work titled "Moments of Berlin and Seoul", creating an intense encounter where the sound languages of the two cities collided and merged in real time. Audiences were able to experience the artists’ creative processes such as noise design and vocal processing during daytime workshops, and then witness the outcomes of those experiments in evening performances, encountering moments where the sounds of the two cities intersected. 

The project took place at Thila Ground in Seoul from November 15 to 18, and will continue its journey next January, when it meets audiences in Berlin, Germany.
