Project Introduction

 A special literary exchange project between eight celebrated authors from Canada and Korea will be launched to commemorate the publication of an anthology. Kicking off at the 2024 Toronto International Festival of Authors, will provide an opportunity for Canadian readers to engage with the authors. Following this, the authors will travel to Korea to meet with readers at the 20th Seoul International Book Fair in mid-October. Through a series of seven talk programs, including book talks, author dialogues, and readings, the authors will explore their works and share their insights and experiences with the audience.

 A gathering of authors who have shaped their unique identities through diverse cultural experiences now comes together to share their literary creations. With a focus on the interconnected themes of ‘diversity and inclusivity,’ they discuss a society moving towards ‘coexistence’ inherent in culture and literature. Through two book talk programs, eight authors from both Korea and Canada will share their unique insights into diversity, discrimination, interpersonal relationships, and emotions. In five additional sessions, they will explore specific topics including people and love, refugees and North Korean defectors, reality and self, alienation and solidarity, and the weaving of dual identities.
