Project Introduction
The Odesa Philharmonic Orchestra, a world-renowned symphony orchestra representing Ukraine, will make its historic debut in Korea at the Goyang Aram Nuri Arts Center Aram Concert Hall on October 2nd. Under the baton of conductor Hobart Earl, who has led the orchestra for 32 years and been honored by the Ukrainian government as a People's Artist, 75 orchestra members will perform songs of hope. Joining this collaborative classical music concert is Korean pianist Junhee Kim, who won the Horowitz International Music Competition held in Kyiv in 2017, thus forging a deep connection with Ukraine.
Through their collaborative concert, Ukraine's Odesa Philharmonic Orchestra and pianist Junhee Kim will showcase a moment of unity through music, transcending the pain of war. The concert will feature a total of ten pieces, ranging from Giuseppe Verdi's 「The Force of Destiny Overture」 to Miroslav Skorik's 「Childhood」, which was also featured in the film "Shadows of Forgotten Ancestors." This includes works by prominent Ukrainian composers. A diverse range of classical music from the 19th to the 21st centuries will be presented, with a particular highlight being the world premiere in Korea of Sergei Bortkiewicz's 「Piano Concerto No. 1」.
